Ramon Ang to shoulder medical expenses, help NAIA Terminal 1 car crash victims

New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) president Ramon Ang on Sunday committed to personally shoulder the medical expenses of those injured in the vehicular crash at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1, and to provide financial assistance to the families of the casualties.
Ang, in an emailed statement, said he will provide for the medical expenses of the four individuals injured, and financial assistance to families of the two who died in the crash.
“This is a very tragic incident. Our priority now is to make sure the victims and their families receive the support and care they need,” he said.
This comes as a black sports utility vehicle (SUV) rammed into the departure area of NAIA Terminal 1 around 8:55 a.m. on Sunday, leaving two dead — a male adult and a four-year-old girl, and several others injured.
According to the NNIC, initial reports indicate that the vehicle was parked near the terminal entrance when it suddenly accelerated and crashed through the railing and into the walkway. The driver has been placed in police custody.
“NNIC is working closely with authorities and continues to support all ongoing response and investigation efforts,” the airport operator said.
“The company extends its deepest sympathies to the families of the deceased and wishes those injured a full and speedy recovery,” it added. —KG, GMA Integrated News
